About MyRecordReview and how we work
MyRecordReview checks Guard and Reserve retirement records against the published rules: points, retired pay, reduced retirement age, DD-214s, awards and survivor plan facts.
Independent
MyRecordReview is a small independent service. It isn't part of, endorsed by or paid by the Department of Defense, the Air Force, DFAS, the VA or any other government agency. It isn't connected to the Air Force's vMPF Record Review application or any other official system: it works only from documents you download yourself, and it never asks for a CAC, a password or a portal login.
Your personnel center, your unit personnel section and DFAS make the official determinations.
How we write the guides
Primary sources only
The statute, DoD instructions and regulations, and service publications. Blogs and vendor sites are leads, never sources.
Cited and dated
Every rule names its section, and every guide shows when it was last reviewed against the current editions.
Facts, not advice
We show the rule and the arithmetic. Decisions stay with you and the people who make them official.
Corrections welcome

Each guide answers the question first, then gives the rule with its citation, the arithmetic, a worked example and what to take to your RSO or MPS. The examples are computed by the same calculator that runs the records check, never typed by hand.
How the records check works
- Rules as data. Each rule has a fixed ID and a citation to the statute, DoD regulation or Air Force publication it comes from: points P1–P13, retirement timing T1–T17, DD-214s O1–O6, awards M1–M10 and survivor plan facts S1–S8. The full tables are on What we check.
- Code does the math. The arithmetic and every pass-or-flag decision are ordinary code that follows the rounding rules in DoD's Financial Management Regulation. Its tests include the regulation's own worked examples, which it must match exactly.
- Official tables. Basic pay comes from the published DoD and DFAS pay tables, and cost-of-living increases from the published rates.
- Findings, not verdicts. Each line says what the record shows, what the rule says and which document settles it. We never say what DFAS or a board will decide.
- Air Force first. The pilot reads Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard records. Army National Guard and Army Reserve formats are next.
